There are men whom I might never see again. Even though I spent some of my most intense moments with them.
That’s a real possibility I’ve had to sit with.
I live about 1,500 km from wherever they live.
Not only do we have to match schedules, but it’s a 15-hour drive, or investing in a flight, renting a car, and spending considerable time to see them.
But what I’ve come to realise is that community isn’t convenient.
It never was.
You pay for it in effort.
In coordination.
In saying yes when it would be easier to say “next time.”
So whenever you think to yourself that it’s inconvenient to meet up with your friends or even reactivate your old friendships….
Remember this:
Not staying in contact with your friends is actually one of the three biggest regrets that people have on their deathbed.
Pay the inconvenience.
It is always, always worth it.
P.S. Now or never. Make the call. Schedule your next reunion. Book the flight if needed.
If not now….when?
If not You….who else?
