The Greek guide called me a bodybuilder last week.

I’ll be honest, I was a little flattered.

Then I looked around at the other people on the trip.

Several of them only made sense of my physique after hearing I’d been in the Special Forces.

I had to remind them that was over 20 years ago 😆

I’d describe myself as fairly athletic.
I’m 52. I have a six pack and some muscle.
But a bodybuilder? Not even close.

Then we spent a week walking through Greek history.
Museums. Ancient sites. Sculptures everywhere.

And I kept looking at these figures, the ancient Greek ideal.

Bodies that were simply the norm for an active, physical culture. Not the exception.

Something dawned on me standing there.

We have drifted a long way from being in shape as the standard.

Somewhere along the line, staying fit over 40  (let alone over 50) became remarkable.

An outlier. Almost a supernatural feat.

It doesn’t have to be.

Here’s all I do.

The 4% Rule. One hour a day. Minimum. Every single day.
Running. Lifting heavy. Calisthenics. Mountain biking.

The format changes.
The hour doesn’t.
That’s it.

It comes down to one decision I made a long time ago.

I treat my health as one of the most important things in my life. Right up there with family.

Because whatever you’re building, leading, or creating, you will do it better when you’re fit and healthy.

And the older you get, the more that hour matters.

To keep showing up fully for the people and the mission that need you most.

When did you last treat your health like it was non-negotiable?
