School taught me to follow instructions.
It never taught me to design a life.
Think about the curriculum:
Maths. Yes.
Literature. Sure.
History. Fine.
But where is the class on:
– How money actually works
– How to build income that doesn’t require your presence
– How to choose where you want to live
– How to protect your health for 50+ years
– How to think for yourself
It doesn’t exist.
Because school wasn’t built to produce free people.
It was built to produce reliable employees.
The script is the same everywhere:
– get good grades
– get a degree
– get a job
– get a mortgage
– get to retirement
And somewhere in there, squeeze in the living.
I failed at school.
Failed at university.
Spent years thinking I was the problem.
I wasn’t.
The map was just wrong.
My daughter Leyla didn’t go to school.
She travelled the world full-time with us for over 13 years instead.
Climbed Kilimanjaro at 17.
At 18, she’s already building her own income streams.
Not because she’s exceptional (she is, but I’m biased. I’m her dad.)
But simply because the system never got to her first.
Here’s what I teach my coaching clients:
Freedom isn’t a reward at the end of the career.
It’s a skill set.
And it can be learned at any age.
The five skills school skipped:
– How to earn without trading time for money
– How to build health that compounds like interest
– How to live anywhere, not just where the jobs are
– How to choose your circle instead of inheriting it
– How to design a week you don’t need to escape from
Most men I work with are in their 40s and 50s.
Brilliant. Successful.
Completely unprepared for freedom.
Because nobody taught them how.
Freedom isn’t stumbled into.
It’s built. Deliberately.
With the right framework.
The system prepared you for employment.
Nobody prepared you for your own life.
