I’ve been thinking about this tree for three days. I saw it on a walk through Greece and I haven’t been able to shake it.
If you look at the tree, you can give it all kinds of disadvantages:
– the soil it’s on
– it’s in the shade
– there are weeds around it
– the temperature is dry
You can throw just about anything at this tree.
And it still does its utmost best to express itself in the fullest way possible.
It grows. It prospers. It flourishes.
With whatever it’s been given, in whatever conditions it finds itself in.
Then there’s us.
We are the only species that limits itself with stories.
Stories about what we should do.
Stories about what’s actually possible.
Stories about why now isn’t the right time, why the conditions aren’t ideal, why we’re not ready yet.
If trees had the mind of a human, most of them wouldn’t grow past a foot tall.
You already have more than the tree has.
The only question is which story you’re going to let run today.
PS: Enjoy this?
