How you start the morning determines the trajectory of the day.
Start in chaos → end in chaos.
Start reactive (phone) → end reactive (fires).
But if you start scripted → you win the day before most people are awake.
I call my morning routine the Zero Option Morning.
“Zero Option” means no decisions are made.
The script is written. I just run it.
06:00 — Wake up. No snooze.
(Snooze is the first defeat of the day. It tells your brain: I don’t want to face my life.)
06:05 — Hydration + light
→ 750ml water with salt + creatine
→ Walk outside. 5 minutes. Sun in the eyes if available.
06:15 — Mind priming
→ 10 pages of stoic or educational reading
→ Write down Top 3 Mission Objectives for the day
→ No news. No social. Nothing reactive.
06:45 — The hard thing (the 4%)
→ Train. Move. Sweat.
→ Conquer the biggest obstacle of the day right now.
08:00 — Family connection
→ By the time my daughter wakes up, I am hydrated, learned, planned, trained.
→ I’m not groggy. I’m activated. I’m fully present.
You can’t “find” time for these things.
You have to take it from the morning before the world wakes up to take it from you.
What’s the first decision your day makes for you and is it the one you’d choose?
PS: Enjoy this?
