“Family is more important than Work”, says every business owner.

“Family is more important than Work”, says every business owner. But our calendars show the ugly truth. Here´s how to fix that:

We plan every minute of our business lives.
And wing it ad hoc in our personal lives.
If you think this is no longer acceptable, copy what I do:

Implement the Lifestyle-First Calendar
Calendar management that prioritizes lifestyle first, business second.

A. Block Personal Priorities First
In my calendar, these come first:
– Workout time (non-negotiable)
– Family meals and activities
– Adventure and travel
– Personal growth, meditation, journalling, and reading

B. Schedule Deep Work Second
Once personal priorities are protected, I block time for:
– Strategic planning
– High-value client work
– Business development
– Creative work and writing

C. Batch Administrative Tasks
Low-value but necessary tasks get batched:
– Email (twice daily, never first thing)
– Team meetings (clustered on specific days and preferably reduced to simple emails or Loom videos)
– Admin work (delegated when possible)
– Routine decisions (systemized when possible)

D. Build in White Space
The most underrated productivity tool? Margin.
I intentionally leave 20% of my calendar unscheduled to allow for:
– Creative inspiration
– Recovery and reflection
– Spontaneous adventures
– Unexpected opportunities

Show your real priorities in your calendar.
