Why I stopped dreading Mondays and how you can too

I used to dread Mondays. That feeling of nausea would creep in by Sunday afternoon as I commuted back to the barracks for the Commando Course (ECO).

I never knew what the instructors had in store for us, but one thing was guaranteed:
Physical and mental suffering, starting Sunday night.

That went on for 13 long weeks.

And sometimes, as an added “favor,” the cadre would let us stay over the weekend for extra punishment.

That was in 1999.

I haven’t dreaded a Monday since.

Sure, I’ve had my fair share of intense weeks, especially when we started building our company in 2006.

But it was invigorating to pour energy into something we owned.

Then came a major shift in 2009.

We decided that our time and freedom meant more than money.

We vowed that our business would serve our lifestyle—not the other way around.

Now, Mondays are just as good as any other day.

They’re part of a rhythm that fuels me.

I dive into deep work, make time for my health, my family, and seek out epic adventures—every day of every week, wherever I am in the world.

This lifestyle? It’s not reserved for a lucky few.

You can have it too, if you want.

All it takes is one decision.
