The most successful people are professional quitters.
“Am I a quitter?”
The question hung in the air during a recent coaching session.
My client’s voice filled with shame after deciding to work less and live more.
But you know what?
The most successful people I know?
They’re expert quitters.
They ruthlessly quit doing stupid stuff:
• Mindless Netflix binges and social media rabbit holes
• Energy-draining relationships
• Unhealthy habits
• Time-wasting meetings
• Goals that aren’t theirs
But they also quit something bigger:
The rat race itself.
What exactly are you quitting?
• The endless chase for validation?
• The constant sacrifice of health for wealth?
• The slow erosion of relationships?
Maybe you’re not quitting.
Maybe you’re awakening.
Remember why you started this whole hustle:
• To create a better life
• To take care of loved ones
• To have freedom and to make an impact
But somewhere along the way:
The means became the end.
The path became the destination.
The race became the purpose. Not the outcome.
In 2009, I quit the rat race.
Best decision I ever made.
Because even if you win the rat race…
You’re still a rat.
Success isn’t about:
• Having the biggest cheese
• Running the fastest wheel
• Building the fanciest cage
It’s about:
• Defining your own game
• Writing your own rules
• Living your own purpose
Because every “yes” to something meaningless
Is a “no” to something meaningful.
Want to be brave?
• Know when to pivot
• Choose what matters
• Say “Enough”
The question isn’t:
“What should I achieve?”
It’s:
“What should I quit?”
