There I was in Februari 2018, dangling in a gondola above Queenstown, New Zealand, when it hit me.
I’m retired. At 44.
Let that sink in for a second.
“I’m retired as well,” I heard myself say to the 70-something stranger next to me.
The words felt weird in my mouth. Almost… wrong?
Sure, I’d joked about it before with friends.
But this time? Different story.
Here’s the thing: My business is running fine without me.
No calls. No texts. No “OMG everything’s on fire” emails.
We have purposefully designed the business this way.
My team’s crushing it, and I’m… what exactly?
Just chillin’ in New Zealand. For 10 weeks.
Living the dream, right?
I mean, I’ve got enough money coming in.
I’ve got the Time.
The freedom to mountain bike whenever I want. To hike. To travel.
To do absolutely whatever I want.
But.
(There’s always a but, isn’t there?)
That nagging question keeps popping up:
“So… this is it? For the next 40+ YEARS?”
Man, I feel like that fire extinguisher behind glass –
“Break in case of emergency.”
And then the guilt hits.
Because who am I to complain? I’ve got what everyone’s hustling for.
The passive income. The financial freedom. The whole package.
But here’s what nobody tells you about achieving your dreams:
Sometimes you wake up and realize you need new ones.
Because financial freedom? That’s just Level 1.
Level 2: Time Freedom
Level 3: Relationships and Health
It starts when you ask yourself:
“What am I going to do with all these new Freedoms?”
And trust me – that’s Level 4, Purpose: The chapter worth reading.
That is where Epic Adventures and Legacy are born.
