“Leave me alone, dad!”

“I Don’t Want Your Life, Dad!” Sometimes, teenagers hold up a mirror you didn’t know you needed.

A friend told me about a couple who are crushing it by society’s standards—working 80 hours a week, tons of money, massive success.

But their version of “giving their kids the best” is relentless pressure. Every day.

For these kids, it’s all about school and achievements.

Fun doesn’t factor in.

One day, their teenage son snapped:

*”I don’t want your life, Dad! I don´t want to be like you!”*

Ouch.

It hit me because I see this a lot.

My daughter goes to a fancy language school in Switzerland every summer.

It’s full of kids who, on paper, have it all—private jets, castles, villas.

But talk to them? Different story.

Most are stressed out, trying to meet impossible expectations.

Some are there just so their parents can show off.

Here’s the thing:
If your version of success makes your kids want to run the other way, what are you really winning?

It’s not about the money or the titles.

It’s about showing them a life worth living.

Agree?
