In ’99 I had a Dream: Become a Commando.
Not a backup plan. The only thing I wanted. Here’s the thing about dreams:
We’re experts at putting them on hold.
We tell ourselves:
“I’ll start when the kids are older”
“Once I have more savings and feel financially secure”
“When the timing is right”
Or any other excuse.
Even worse?
Some people have buried their dreams so deep, they claim they don’t have any.
“I’m too practical for dreams”
“I’m content with what I have”
“Dreams are not for people like me”
But here’s what happens when you lose your dreams:
– You drift aimlessly, living by others’ expectations (“Just make more money”)
– Your days blur together without real purpose and you feel hollow inside
– Life becomes a series of tasks instead of an epic adventure
Sounds familiar?
Here’s what I learned pursuing my Commando dream:
Dreams are rocket fuel for life, launching you past mediocrity:
• They’re your personal compass when you’re lost
• They get you fired up and push you past your comfort zone
• They make saying ‘no’ to distractions easy
• They are the fuel needed for setting goals and chasing them down
That’s why I love asking people:
“What’s your dream?”
Watch their eyes light up.
See that spark ignite and grow.
It´s in there. Somewhere. Dying to express itself.
Your weekend mission (if you choose to accept it…. 😉 ):
Ask 3 people you know well about their dreams.
Don’t accept the usual excuses.
Dig deeper. Push past the “I can’t” and “Maybe later.”
Don’t ask “how?” – just explore “what?”
“What would your life look like if you pursued and achieved that dream?”
Fair warning: They’ll ask about yours too.
Be ready. 😉
Have an inspiring weekend!
