I’m a sore loser. Ask my family – they know.
Maybe that’s why I’m rarely invited to game nights anymore… 😉
I just don’t add to the “fun factor.”
Apparently, that’s kind of important in games.
Who knew?
This mindset followed me everywhere:
As a Special Forces Operator, I thought success meant:
• Running fastest
• Lifting heaviest
• Pushing hardest
Simple metrics. Easy scorekeeping.
I was wrong. Again.
Being valuable to the team meant:
• Playing well with others
• Maintaining awareness under pressure
• Having tactical insight when it counted
Less measurable, infinitely more valuable.
Then came entrepreneurship in 2005.
New game, same mindset: Make mo´ money.
Finally, another measurable goal!
I “won” – but at what cost?
• Grinding constantly
• Health declining
• 15 kilos heavier
• Relationships suffering
• Being the ‘dark cloud’ at work
I was winning the wrong game.
Wrong again.
The real victory?
• Enjoying the journey
• Building relationships along the way
• Making it worthwhile for everyone
• Prioritizing lifestyle over ´workstyle´
Turns out, having fun together isn’t just a bonus – it’s part of winning.
Who knew, right? 😉
