How many weeks do you think you’ll live?

I used to think (and act like) I would live forever. Of course, I was dead wrong.

Not in the sense of taking extreme risks.

But in putting off the things I really wanted until “someday.”

You’ll live about 4,000 weeks. Give or take a few.

If you’re 50 years old, like me, you’ve already spent 2,600 of them.

And some of the things you want require good health.

We all know health declines with age.

That’s the challenge.
We can fight and slow the entropy, but we cannot stop it.

Let’s face it: Not too many 70-year-olds are climbing Mount Everest.
(If that’s your sort of thing)

Turning 50 has created a new sense of urgency for me.

So now I intentionally plan my year.

Because what gets planned, gets done.

This is what it looks like now:
• February: Visit our daughter in Canada (she’s becoming a ski instructor and will be over there for 3 months) and go heli-boarding
• March: Snowmobiling in Romania
• July: Racing RedBull Romaniacs – The Hardest Enduro Rally in the World (5 days)
• September: Race Sea to Sky Hard Enduro in Turkey

More will be planned, I’m sure.

I’m not telling you this to brag.

I’m just not sure I’ll be able to do some of this stuff later on.

Honestly:
I have very few regrets, but some time-windows have already closed.
I’m fit, but I’ll probably never fight in the UFC at my age.
Or climb the Eiger North Face.

That just happened. It was not ‘on/off’. It just happened.

It’s not really a problem, but it’s good to realize once in a while.

Just as there was a ‘last time’ (after many times!) I watched Shrek with my little daughter.

That ‘dad-of-a-little-girl-version’ of me is gone.

Just as my daughter will, one day, not join us on vacations anymore.
One day.

Putting it all together:

You don’t have ‘all the time in the world.’

If you still want to live an Epic Life full of adventure, the best time to start was yesterday.

The next best time is Today.

You are now the youngest you will ever be.

Go for it!
