Heads up. Controversial statement incoming:
The most successful people I know are strategically lazy.
Yes, you read that right.
Here’s why: Action pushes out thinking.
We’re all guilty of it:
• Constant doing
• Endless busy-work
• Perpetual motion
• Non-stop action
But here’s the game-changer:
80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.
Let that sink in.
I’ve built 7 and 8-figure companies with one simple question:
“Is what I’m about to do 80/20?”
If not:
• Delegate it
• Automate it
• Eliminate it
This isn’t just business wisdom. It’s life wisdom.
Training for hard enduro racing?
The 20% that matters:
• Technique mastery
• Actual bike time
• Strategic leg training and interval training
• Mental preparation
Everything else? Nice to have, not need to have.
Parenting?
The 20% that transforms:
• Full presence (not just proximity)
• Active listening
• Intentional, supportive communication
• Priority-based decisions
• Heart-level connection
The rest is just noise.
You´re not alone.
Still, I catch myself in the 20/80 trap:
Busy with things that look important, but create minimal impact.
Putting out fires that land in your inbox.
Almost always urgent. Hardly ever important.
Ready to get strategically lazy?
Try this 15-minute exercise right now:
List your main life areas:
• Career
• Health
• Relationships
• Personal growth • etc.
For each area, ask:
“What 20% of my efforts create 80% of my desired results?”
Then the killer question:
“What am I doing that feels important but creates minimal impact?”
Finally:
“What would happen if I eliminated or delegated all non-80/20 activities?”
The answers will shock you.
Being busy can easily become an addiction. Trust me, I know.
At the end of the day you worked your ass off, did a 100 tasks….., but you can hardly remember what you did. Right?
You did not push anything forward to accomplishing your real goals.
And we forget being busy isn’t being productive.
Strategic laziness means:
• Thinking before doing
• Quality over quantity
• Impact over activity
• Effectiveness over efficiency
So, are you ready to get (strategically) lazy?
It might be the best thing you´ll ever do.
