2025 Goal: ❌ Failed ❌
Here’s my story of “failure”.
My big goal for 2025:
Completing the Red Bull Romaniacs – the world’s toughest (and longest) hard enduro rally.
Spoiler alert: I didn’t.

Three weeks before the race, I jumped over a traditional fire celebration (yes, that’s a thing where I live). Landed wrong. Busted ankle.

I did go to Romaniacs. I did compete.
But my ankle had not recovered enough to continue.

Dreams crushed?
On the surface, yes. But here’s where it gets interesting…

2 Things I Learned When “Failing”:
– The Journey IS the Reward
In preparing for this race,
• Massively improved my riding technique
• Pushed my endurance to new levels
• Transformed my fitness through relentless cardio and intervals
• Upgraded my nutrition and lifestyle

Even after dropping out, I spent beautiful days in Sibiu, Romania, reconnecting with old friends.
The race was the goal. But the transformation was the gift.

– Perspective is Everything
Did I want to complete the race?
Hell yes.
Was it devastating when I couldn’t? Initially.

But then I looked around:
• My ankle will heal and the rest of my health is superb
• My family still loves me
• My business gives me freedom
• My life is still great
• My adventures aren’t over and 2025 has been amazing so far

Sometimes we get so caught up in our goals
That we forget what we already have.

– Bonus: Humility is Healthy 😉
Nothing like a good reality check to remind you you’re actually human.
Goals are just guides.
They’re meant to pull us forward, not define our worth.

The real measure isn’t in:
• Crossing finish lines
• Collecting medals
• Achieving targets
It’s in:
• Who you become (!)
• What you learn
• How you grow ….and how you handle adversity

And speaking of growth…
Life doesn’t stop for “failure.”
In 6 weeks, I’m climbing Kilimanjaro with my 17-year-old daughter.
New adventure. New challenge. New memories to make.
Because that’s the thing about “failure”:
It’s just a comma in your story, never a period.

The question isn’t: “Did you achieve your goal?”
It’s: “Who are you becoming?”
