My 17-year-old daughter, Leyla, just bought her second business. 🤩 This is why that matters.👇
Remember being 17?
That age when most of us were still trying to figure out what to wear to school…
Meanwhile, my daughter Leyla just closed the deal on her second business venture.
No, this isn’t a proud dad exaggeration.
This is a story about choosing your path. And choosing it early.
At 17, most teens face a world of:
• Endless possibilities and overwhelming choices
• Paralyzing uncertainty
• Social pressures and traditional expectations
But Leyla asked different questions:
“What do I actually enjoy?”
• Reading books
• Global travel
• Sports and adventure
• Quality time with friends
Then she asked the golden question:
“What do I need to sustain this lifestyle?”
• Financial freedom
• Time autonomy
• Location independence
It took me until my mid-30s to figure this out. 😂 Smart girl.
She cracked the code before most get their driver’s license.
Her solution?
An Amazon KDP business – writing and publishing books.
Scalable. Location-independent. Potentially passive income.
But here’s why this matters to me:
From all possible paths, she chose the entrepreneur’s path.
The path where:
• Success has no ceiling
• Failure is your teacher
• Accountability is absolute
• Freedom is the reward
Oh, and that “second” business?
At 14, she bought shares in our family’s health food company.
Last week, we bought her out – because she wanted “her own thing.”
Her path.
Her choice.
As a father, I couldn’t be prouder.
Not of her success.
But for her courage to choose her own way.
At 17, she already knows:
Freedom isn’t given.
It’s built.
One brave choice at a time.
And here I am,
On the sidelines,
Cheering her on.
