Just you, your compass, a map, and overwhelming uncertainty.
This was me during Commando training. ⚔️
The instructor’s words still echo in my head:
“If you’re lost, return to your last known point.”
Simple advice that saved my sanity more than once.
And continues to save my sanity now.
Here’s why:
We all have an internal GPS:
• We know where we are
• We know where we want to go
• We usually know how to get there
But sometimes…
We get lost.
• Revenue drops
• Relationships strain
• Motivation vanishes
• Direction becomes unclear
And that’s when most people:
• Push harder
• Work longer
• Try new strategies
• Chase different goals
• Make dramatic changes
But here’s what Commando training taught me:
When lost, don’t forge ahead blindly. It always ends badly.
Return to your last known point.
In life, that means returning to basics you know are essential:
• Physical health (movement, nutrition, rest)
• Mental clarity (meditation, journaling, nature)
• Quality sleep (your life’s reset button)
• Core relationships (family, close friends)
• Personal time (hobbies, passion projects)
• Simple joys (whatever makes you smile)
Because here’s the thing I learned:
You can’t find new paths when you’re depleted.
You can’t see clearly when you’re exhausted.
You can’t lead others when you’re lost yourself.
The basics aren’t basic.
They’re fundamental.
They’re your last known point.
And from there:
• Clarity returns
• Energy resurges
• Path reveals itself
So if you’re feeling lost right now:
Don’t push harder.
Don’t panic.
Don’t make dramatic changes.
Instead:
Return to your last known point.
Rebuild from basics.
The rest will fall into place. It will.
Trust the process.
Trust yourself.
Because sometimes the best way forward…
Is to step back.
