In 1998 I ´Followed My Passion´ and was bankrupt in 6 months – with a huge debt. Stupid advice 😆

I started a canyoning company in the Spanish Pyrenees.

Perfect sense, right?

I was passionate about outdoors and had years of experience as a guide.

Just one tiny problem:

I knew nothing about business.

But how hard could it be?

Turns out, very hard.

Wrong partner. No understanding of marketing, sales, or finance.
Sure, we had the fancy business cards, the 9-person van, and even mobile phones (when those were rare).

Six months later? Bankruptcy. Mountain of debt.

The harsh lesson I learned:
Running a business is about much more than passion.

It’s about:
• Sales and marketing
• Finance and operations
• Customer service
• Problem-solving
• People management

Here’s the irony:
The more successful your business becomes, the less time you spend doing what you’re passionate about.

Think about it:
When was the last time you actually did the thing that got you excited about starting your business?

The Better Approach:
Build a business that works first. Preferably in a market you are enthusiastic about – one that creates both wealth AND freedom.

Then use that freedom to pursue your passions without the pressure of making money from them.

The freedom to look after your health and relationships.

You can have both – a profitable business AND time to enjoy what you love.

Just don’t confuse the two.

Build a complete life you are passionate about.
