Disconnecting next to the World’s Busiest Man.

“WiFi… What’s the code for the WiFi?” the man next to me asks the steward, his voice sharp with urgency.

We’re in economy class, heading to Barcelona, a short two-hour flight. From the moment he sat down, he’s been restless, fidgeting non-stop.

Before we even took off, he was glued to his phone—refreshing his email like it was a life-or-death situation, doom-scrolling Instagram with the speed of a sprinter, switching to a game with exploding blocks for barely a minute before diving back into his inbox.

Type, send. WhatsApp, scroll, type, send. Check photos. Scroll. Repeat.

His jittery energy is starting to wear on me.

Takeoff finally comes, and for a brief moment, he closes his eyes, pretending to relax.

It’s almost amusing, as if he’s trying to convince himself he can actually slow down.

Then, without missing a beat, he whips out his laptop.

“You can place an order once we begin the service,” the steward responds calmly.

“What? No, WiFi! What’s the WiFi code?” the man repeats, his agitation growing.

“Oh, I’m so sorry. I thought you said ‘White Wine.’ But, unfortunately, there is no WiFi on this flight.”

His eyes widen in disbelief. “You’re telling me there’s no WiFi on this Airbus A320?” he snaps, as if it’s an outrageous concept.

“I’m afraid not, sir. No WiFi on this flight,” the steward says, maintaining his composure.

“But… I have a voucher!” The man is now waving a coupon like it’s going to change the situation, his frustration growing.

“I understand, sir, but there is no WiFi available,” the steward repeats, unwavering.

Watching this unfold, I find myself admiring the steward’s patience.

I take a deep breath, a smile creeping onto my face.

Unlike the frantic man beside me, I’m not busy at all.
No emails to send, no scrolling to do.

Maybe he would have been better off ordering that White Wine after all 😉
