If you don’t build a wall around your attention
the world walks in and steals your life.
Most entrepreneurs I know are reactive by default.
Their day starts with someone else’s agenda
and never really recovers from that first five minutes.
They’re busy all day and can’t tell you what they actually built.
Here’s the three-step system I run daily to make sure that doesn’t happen.
1. The power hour protocol
→ First 60 minutes of work: no email, no Slack, no phone.
→ One task. One window. One outcome.
→ By the time I open my inbox, I’ve already done the most important thing.
→ The rest of the day is a bonus.
2. The decision diamond (the 4 Ds)
→ I don’t “check” email. I process it, once, with a clear rule for every message.
→ For every message, choose one immediately:
• Delete it if it’s noise.
• Delegate it if someone else should own it.
• Do it immediately if it takes under two minutes.
• Defer it and schedule it if it takes longer.
→ Touch each email once. Move on.
3. The digital sunset
→ Pick a time (mine is 8 PM)
→ Phone goes on Do Not Disturb
→ Phone goes in a different room
→ Laptop closes. The war is over.
Your attention is the most valuable asset you own.
It’s also the most stolen.
If you don’t defend it, someone else will spend it for you.
📌 Which of the three would change your week the most, starting tomorrow?
