Everyone wants the result.

Everyone wants the result.

Few want what it costs.

Marcus Aurelius said it best and he was running an empire through war and plague when he wrote it:

“What stands in the way becomes the way.”

He was reminding himself daily
that the obstacle isn’t in the way of the work.

It IS the work.

I’ve felt this in Special Forces.
I’ve felt it in sobriety.
I’ve felt it bleeding through a Romaniacs stage I almost didn’t finish.

Every hard thing I didn’t quit on built the man standing here at 52

fitter, sharper, and more alive than I was at 25.

The hard thing is never the detour.
It’s the destination.

So my advise is:
Do the hard thing.
Because nothing tastes better than what you had to bleed for.

The men I respect all have one thing in common.
They stopped negotiating with the hard thing.

How about you?
What’s the hard thing you keep dodging?

📌 PS. The hard thing rarely announces itself. It just sits there. Waiting for you to stop pretending it’s not yours.

PS: Enjoy this?
