3 Months ago, my daughter turned 18. She now has to pay rent to live with us. No more ´Free Lunches´. Before you judge, here’s why:

In the history of the planet, it’s never been easier for teenagers to make money.
But this isn’t about money.
It’s about learning.

The rules:
• Small rent amount
• If she earns more than ´X´ = zero rent
• Money isn’t the point
• The lesson is

Why?
Because I’m not raising a child.
I’m raising a future adult.

And here’s what schools don’t teach:
• Money management
• Financial independence
• Real-world economics

She did not go to school anyway, but that is not the point.

I now understand this:
• Regular jobs are disappearing….fast
• Financial literacy isn’t optional anymore
• Independence is survival: Nobody will come to save you

Some call it harsh.
I call it preparation.

Because, in my decade-plus years at school, nobody taught me:
• How to negotiate
• How to create value
• How to build wealth
• How to be financially free

Three months in:
• She’s tapping into income streams (and already had her first month ´rent free´ 🥳 )
• Building valuable skills
• Growing confidence
• Making smart money moves
• Understanding the value of money

The greatest gift is not giving money.
It´s teaching how to make it.

What financial lessons are you teaching your kids?

P.S. Think this is too tough?

P.P.S About the pic: Leyla Coenen now works full-time as a ski instructor at Vallnord Pal in Andorra (and still has her KDP business)
