“What’s most important in your life?” I asked the successful gym owner during our call last week.

“Family, health, business. In that order.”

“And what do you spend most time and energy on?”

Silence

Then it hit him:
– 60+ hours training clients
– Barely seeing his kids
– Business consuming everything

“But I love what I do,” he said.
And there it was.

The trap that catches so many business owners.

We say:
– Family first
– Health is wealth
– Business serves life

But we live:
– Business first
– Health when convenient
– Family gets the leftovers

Here’s what Special Forces taught me:
Priorities aren’t what you say. They’re what you do.

And real priorities?
They hurt.

Because they force choices:
• Saying no to good things
• Making hard decisions
• Disappointing some people

This gym owner?
• Below market rates
• Fully booked
• Clients who’d happily pay more
• Trading time for money

The solution was simple.
But not easy.

What are your real priorities?
Not what you say they are.
What your calendar says they are.

Because if your priorities don’t hurt…
They’re not priorities.
They’re just wishes.
