When a close friend of mine hit 50, he warned me, “The big 5-0 changes everything. Youโre getting old!”
I shrugged it off, thinking it was nonsense. After all, nothing happened when I turned 49, so why would 50 be any different?
Just a number, right?
I was wrong.
Something did shift.
There was a new ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ that crept inโa feeling I didn’t expect but really needed.
Let me explain.
Most people only make significant changes when they ๐ต๐ถ๐ ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐๐ผ๐บ.
Itโs when the pain of staying the same becomes unbearable that transformation occurs.
What was once a โ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐น๐ฑโ now turns into a โ๐บ๐๐๐.โ
You see this in health, for example. “I should lose 15 kilos” suddenly becomes “I must” when the doctor diagnoses you with diabetes.
Or, “I should spend more time with my family” becomes urgent when you see your relationships falling apart.
These moments push us into what Joseph Campbell describes as the ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ผโ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐: an adventure where we face challenges, transform, and return with wisdom.
We live this journey over and overโthrough childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and all of lifeโs stages.
But as we age, it becomes easier to settle into complacency, and harder to launch into that next adventure.
The good news?
You donโt have to wait for a rock-bottom moment to change.

How? Just remember this:
No matter how old you are… You have an enemy.
Your enemy is Time.
You’re in a race against Time…..
(and you already know who wins in the end ;-))
The only thing you can control is how interesting the game is.
